Pre-Placement Health Screening

Compliments the NN Physical Functional Assessments conducted for job matching. Explores any pre-existing ailments with a potential to impact on the candidate's ability to safely carry out the duties of the proposed position. Has the potential to reduce claims and WorkCover costs through the identification of "base-line" health on commencement.

Standard Health Screening Includes:

  • Cardiovascular testing for blood pressure, heart sounds etc.
  • Musculo-skeletal examination including body anthropometrics, muscle strength, joint range etc.
  • Neurological reflexes and other obvious signs
  • General body check for hernia, visual acuity, colour vision etc.

Additional screening is available on request.
Additional Screening Includes:

  • Establishment of current hearing levels
  • Blood sugar testing
  • Urinalysis for blood, sugar and protein
  • Urinalysis for drug screening

Physical Capacity Assessment

Compliments the NN Pre-placement health screening. A non-discriminatory process which is clearly job related and predictive of the candidate's ability to safely perform the task. Designed as one element of the employer's comprehensive recruitment process. Has the potential to reduce claims and WorkCover costs through identification of pre-existing conditions, enabling effective workplace management.

Physical Capacity Assessment Process

  • Pre-test declaration and consent from the potential candidate
  • Identification of fitness levels and extra curricular activities for an indication of motivation and active lifestyle
  • The work attributes and physical requirements of the tasks (ideally assessed via a Job Dictionary) are utilised to develop specific assessments using tools such as Work Evaluation Systems Technology measuring:
    • Clinical factors such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate and aerobic fitness
    • Grip strength
    • Body range of motion under load and manual handling capacities
    • Handling and fingering skills
    • Colour deficiency (colour blindness)
  • Previous medical history also taken into consideration
  • Objective scoring of candidate determined by computer analysis and clinical expertise helps determine suitability, which can be assisted by X-Rays if required
  • Lifting techniques and responses to advise on correct techniques are discussed in the report
