Vocational Assessment
A Vocational appraisal includes assessment of ability, aptitude, personality characteristics and work interests by registered psychologists specialising in occupational health and rehabilitation.
Benefits of the Vocational Assessment
A vocational assessment in conjunction with a functional capacity evaluation (by an Occupational Therapist) can provide an holistic picture of the client's strengths, work potential and vocational options as well as barriers to employment and/or need for retraining, thereby optimising the client's opportunities to sustain employment.
Process:
A Vocational Assessment consists of:
- Initial interview and background history to obtain an overview of medical, educational, employment, emotional and psychological factors which may influence employment.
- Psychometric evaluations of intellectual ability and aptitudes (personality assessment, work interest and occupational preferences, literacy and numeracy assessment).
- Written report with Recommendations.
