Physical Capacity Assessment

Compliments the NN Pre-placement health screening. A non-discriminatory process which is clearly job related and predictive of the candidate's ability to safely perform the task. Designed as one element of the employer's comprehensive recruitment process. Has the potential to reduce claims and WorkCover costs through identification of pre-existing conditions, enabling effective workplace management.

Physical Capacity Assessment Process

  • Pre-test declaration and consent from the potential candidate
  • Identification of fitness levels and extra curricular activities for an indication of motivation and active lifestyle
  • The work attributes and physical requirements of the tasks are matched with the specific assessments undertaken such as Work Evaluation Systems Technology, Valpar, Purdue Peg board, Jamar, MRMT, Bennett's Hand Tool and many proven test batteries measuring:
    • Clinical factors such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate and aerobic fitness
    • Grip strength
    • Body range of motion under load and manual handling capacities
    • Handling and fingering skills
    • Colour deficiency (colour blindness)
  • Previous medical history also taken into consideration
  • Objective scoring of candidate determined by computer analysis and clinical expertise helps determine suitability, which can be assisted by X-Rays if required
  • Lifting techniques and responses to advise on correct techniques are discussed in the report
