Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)
Conducted at NN Associates to identify the worker's physical capacities and limitations with respect to undertaking the job demands of their pre-injury duties, alternative duties or potential new employment. Utilises standardised equipment that is well researched for validity and reliability.
Benefits of an FCA

- Assists in the establishment of the worker's ability to return to pre-injury employment, selected tasks, or alternative duties via comparison with a Job Analysis or Job Dictionary
- If employment with pre-injury employer is no longer sustainable, can be used in conjunction with a Vocational Assessment to identify alternative employments that match with injured worker's physical capacity and cognitive aptitudes
- Can be undertaken to establish the ability of a worker to continue their current employment:
- After a motor vehicle accident
- Post-pregnancy
- Following extended leave of absence
- Following non-compensable injury/illness
- Where there is legitimate concern about the employee's or others' continuing safety at work
