Activities of Daily Living Assessment (ADL)

Conducted at the worker's home to identify and problem solve the impact of the injury on mobility, personal care and household activities. Emphasis is placed on maintaining independence by providing education and modification of tasks, equipment prescription and assistance if necessary.

Benefits of an ADL

  • Provides an holistic approach to worker's issues
  • Eliminates non-work related factors that may be inhibiting the Return to Work process, thereby assisting with the minimisation of claims and associated employment costs
  • Provides the worker with coping strategies for self care, home duties and recreational activities thereby improving overall mental state and well-being
  • Provides education on correct techniques and task simplification that can be transferred to the work situation
  • Promotes an increase in functional abilities via a graduated home activity program
  • Functional abilities and limitations can be identified and related back to the workplace scenario - particularly useful for long-term claims
